AK is based on the idea that stress on the nervous system can come from three main sources: physical injury, emotional tension, or chemical imbalances like poor diet or toxins. Billing Policy: Billing is based on the time scheduled and is due at the time of service. The time required may vary depending on the patient’s age and the severity of the complaint. However, you will never be charged for more time than what was scheduled.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept HSA/FSA payments?
Yes, I accept HSA/FSA cards; however, some accounts may not cover nutritional supplements. Please check with your plan provider for specific coverage details.
Do you adjust the neck?
No, I do not perform manual neck adjustments like traditional ‘cracking.’ I use gentle, non-force techniques if I do find a need to treat the neck.
Do you do care plans?
No.
Do you take insurance?
No. I do not bill insurance directly. Most insurance does not cover the holistic and integrative approach I provide.
Do you take Medicare?
I am a non-participating Medicare provider. Medicare only covers spinal adjustments for specific diagnoses. Because I do not perform spinal adjustments during visits, the services I provide are not covered by Medicare and cannot be billed to Medicare. Payments are due at the time of service, and I’m happy to provide a receipt for you.
What does the initial visit look like?
Your initial visit lasts about 1 hour and includes:
- A review of your health history and concerns
- An explanation of the style of care and blend of techniques I provide
- Hands-on treatment
- Lifestyle recommendations to support your results and overall well-being based off of findings
How often will Dr. Shelby see me?
After your 1-hour new patient appointment, I’ll likely see you once a week for two more weeks. Those appointments are 20 minutes long. As your body begins to improve, I may space your visits to every 3–4 weeks, then 6 weeks, and eventually as needed — as much or as little as you prefer. I work for you!
